Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have returned to Real Madrid following their loan spells at Arsenal.
The Gunners also confirmed the departures of David Luiz and Mat Ryan, whose contracts expire on June 30.
Arsenal were keen to keep Odegaard, the 22-year-old Norwegian, following an impressive five months at the club since arriving on loan in January.
However, the exit of Zinedine Zidane and subsequent arrival of Carlo Ancelotti at the playmaker’s parent club, Madrid, put an end to those hopes.
Ceballos was also surplus to requirements under Zidane, having spent the last two seasons on loan at the Emirates, and Ancelotti’s appointment gives the midfielder fresh hope of a career at the Bernabeu.
The departure of Luiz after two seasons had all-but been announced by the club in recent weeks, while goalkeeper Ryan was only signed with a short-term plan in mind.
An Arsenal statement read: “We thank all of the above players for their contributions to the club during their permanent or loan contracts with us.
“You will always be part of the Arsenal family and we wish you all the best of health, happiness and success in your futures.”
