Anthony Joshua has attempted some light-hearted MMA training while ticking over ahead of his next fight.
Boxing’s unified WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world champion is set to start camp soon for a defence against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk.
This bout is planned for September 25 in London.
However, in the meantime he has flown out to Marbella and is keeping in shape, as always, before returning to the UK to begin his proper camp.
On Friday, video emerged of him attempting some MMA training.
AJ launched a series of kicks and even flying knees, combined with his usual heavy punches, on the pads with Luke Barnatt.
Barnatt is a middleweight MMA fighter who competed in the UFC.
Over in Thailand, Usyk is upping his preparations for Joshua with a remarkable body transformation
In his first fight in the heavyweight division back in 2019, he scaled 215lbs and stopped gatekeeper Chazz Witherspoon.
Then, last October, he was 217¼lbs for a unanimous decision victory over Derek Chisora.
This fight did not go all Usyk’s own way though and questions have been raised about whether he’ll be big enough to handle AJ.
As a result, it appears he’s bulking up again and recently showed that he weighed 230lbs.
Now, in his latest training photo, the bulked up body transformation is complete.
