Ted Cruz: Too Many In The Media Are Actively ‘Rooting’ For Pandemic To Get Worse
Senator Ted Cruz, in an appearance on Fox News, suggested that there are certain elements of the media who are actively cheering for the coronavirus pandemic to get worse. In other words, he voiced the obvious. Cruz’ (R-TX) was particularly incensed with Washington Post ‘fact-checker’ Glenn Kessler, who used current economic news to cast President Trump’s past bragging as embarrassing to him. “Line from Trump’s State of the Union address that did not age well,” Kessler tweeted. ‘Incredibly, the average unemployment rate under my administration is lower than any administration in the history of our country.'” He was swiftly and viciously ratioed with comments pointing out the minor detail of being in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic whose effects had yet to be seen at the time. The press HATED that, three months ago, we had the lowest African-American & Hispanic unemployment ever recorded. Now that we’re in the midst of a global pandemic—which originated in Wuhan, not the Oval Office—too many in the press are giddy with glee. #RootForAmerica https://t.co/JGb5mgHanT — Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) April 5, 2020 RELATED: Rep. Crenshaw Blasts Obama Senior Adviser For ‘Vitriol’ Making ‘Americans Feel Awful’ During Coronavirus Crisis Rooting For Disaster To suggest that President Trump was somehow wrong for celebrating a great economy in early February is absurd. To suggest that there was no significant event taking place in the world that would cause the economy to go into a tailspin is media malpractice. But to do both as a means to dunk on the President because your employer, the Washington Post, thrives on that kind of thing is a little sick. Cruz spotted it and noticed Kessler’s actions are essentially a trend in the mainstream media. “Much of the mainstream media was trying to root for disaster,” the Republican congressman told Fox personality, Laura Ingraham. “They’re rooting for this pandemic to be worse and worse.” “You saw The Washington Post self-proclaimed fact-checker was cheering about a line from the State of the Union where the President said we had the lowest unemployment in 50 years,” he continued. “And The Washington Post was saying, ‘Well, that didn’t stand up well to the test of time.'” RELATED: CNN’s Jake Tapper Shares Tweet Calling Trump ‘100% Insane’ Moron Cruz proceeded to level the Post and their fact-checker, calling him a “moron,” and then explaining what the press actually has a problem with. “Well, no, you moron,” Cruz hit back. “We had the lowest level of African-American and Hispanic unemployment ever recorded until a global pandemic that originated in Wuhan came and ended up causing absolute chaos and catastrophe.” Come now, Senator Cruz. Those are facts. Facts that put the current situation and President Trump’s past comments into context. Did you really expect the media to present facts? I wonder what happened between then and now. I’ll have to check to see if there is any important news. Seriously, @GlennKesslerWP your profession polls at 22% approval. Prostitutes, people who sell drugs to kids, and sexually transmitted diseases poll higher. https://t.co/qOurzzVhf3 — Here comes Ordy Cottontail! (@OrdyPackard) April 5, 2020 Enemy of the People The Texas senator notes that while most Americans have come together in this time of crisis, the media have done the opposite. Instead, they’ve been seeking to further divide. Mocking the President for plunging stock markets, celebrating unemployment, and hoping it continues up until the election. “The media — we should be coming together to root for America, to root for defeating this pandemic, to root for jobs coming back,” implored Cruz. “I think too many partisan Democrats want to just use this catastrophe to attack Trump rather than come together and fight for our country.” This is why a majority of the American public has little trust in the media. And that is why they continue to deserve the label, ‘enemy of the people.’ The post Ted Cruz: Too Many In The Media Are Actively ‘Rooting’ For Pandemic To Get Worse appeared first on The Political Insider.
